Innovation for startups: The main role of a Science is to help Sapiens understand and deal with a certain Phenomenon. However, to achieve this, it is necessary to organize the dialogue. We thus have the following activities in Sciences:
- Primary Science Activity – help to understand and deal with certain Phenomenon;
- Secondary Activity of Science – organize dialogue on a given Phenomenon so that we can understand it and deal with it better.
In this article the objective is to understand a little and help you deal better with the Phenomenon of Innovation. The fact is that there is a lot of talk about Innovation, but little dialogue is organized around it. Organize the Innovation Science, through the systematization of dialogue about this Phenomenon. Note that here we are NOT going to define what Innovation is as a truth for everyone.
But make an APPROACH, based on several choices we made, of what is considered to be most appropriate in terms of understanding and the best way to deal with innovation.
Thus, Innovation can be divided into Three Innovative Layers:
- Civilizational – more Spontaneous, which develops in the Macro History, based on changes in Sapiens Structural Strengths, namely: demographics, media and new Macro Cooperation Models;
- Organizational – more Directed, which develops in Meso and Micro History, based on changes in the various cooperative forms of Sapiens, in organizations of all types;
- Guys – more Directed, which develops in Micro History, based on the individual changes that each person makes in their lives.
The objective of this article is to address the Organizational Innovation Layer.
We have the following divisions in Organizational Innovation:
- Established Organizations;
- Emerging Organizations.
From the point of view of Innovation, this is the division that is most interesting, as we will have common and different points, depending on the type of Organizational Innovation we are talking about. There is a mistake in the market when talking about Innovation when it combines two situations that are very different. Fact is:
The process of Innovation in Established Organizations is one thing and another, quite different, is done in Emerging Organizations.
Established Organizations have characteristics that will be relevant in the Innovation process:
- have already established routines;
- established relationships with customers;
- have assets;
- have a Organizational culture.
Emerging Organizations have characteristics that will be relevant in the Innovation process:
- NO have already established routines;
- NO established YET customer relations;
- NO he has YET patrimony;
- They DO NOT have to generate what we can call Organizational culture.
What is common between Emerging and Established Organizations?
- share, to some extent, the same cultural background as society;
- and inherit a similar vision of the current Organizational Culture.
When we want to address the topic of Innovation for Startups, it is necessary to separate two types of Emerging Organizations:
- Emerging Increasing Organizations – those that will more imitate than differentiate themselves from Established Organizations;
- Disruptive Emerging Organizations – those that will create rather than imitate Established Organizations.
When we refer to Startups, we are actually referring to Disruptive Emerging Organizations.
There are two major challenges in innovation Disruptive Emerging Organizations:
- get rid of some aspects of the current Organizational Culture to be able to do something different;
- and adopt some aspects of the current Organizational Culture to create your own Organizational Culture.
Innovation in Startups is, basically, the art of separating the wheat from the chaff: what will I introduce new and what will I use from the old.
When we talk about Organizational Innovation, it is practiced by one or more people. There are several types of organizations, more formal or informal. But they are Organizations.
Organizing is:
“Give a certain order to; arrange in an orderly manner; tidy, order. "O. a library” // conform(itself), structure(itself).”
There is no isolated organization. A person is not an organization. A person needs to organize themselves and when they organize with more people they create some type of organization, even if it is informal.
Therefore, it is easier and more appropriate to call the Intermediate Innovative Layer the Organizational Innovative Layer, making it clear that it covers any type of organization made by one or more people. We can divide the organizations, from there, into profit or non-profit.
More formal or more informal. That's it, what do you say?
