ChatGPT: Initially, when we analyze future trends, based on the arrival of new technologies, it is recommended that we ask ourselves the following questions:
- What kind of technology are we looking at?
- Is the type of technology completely new or recurring?
- As it is recurring, what is similar to the past and what is new?
- The new technology introduces quantitative changes (more of the same) 3/or qualitative (or more of something new?)
In the same way, let's look at the diagnosis of the Digital Revolution, based on the strongest future trend analysis criteria:
- We are analyzing the arrival of new media (technologies that allow us to communicate, interact, cooperate);
- The emergence and massification of new media is, without a doubt, a rare but recurring phenomenon;
- New More Complete Media always introduce new channels, new language and new ways of processing and storing data, which change how we communicate, interact and cooperate;
- More information, for example, is something that always occurs in Media Revolutions (quantitative change), but the new form of cooperation (qualitative change).
In other words, all Media Revolutions have, in some way, changed how we process data. We have always had improvements in the processing and storage of both types of languages:
- Numeric;
- And not numeric.
Even more. In the analysis of technologies, we still have two moments:
- When they are invented and have not yet become widespread;
- And the moment when they become more widespread.
The written revolution
Writing, for example, emerged 8 thousand years ago, but only became widespread 500 years ago with the arrival of the printing press. In other words, we can say that the press was the Writing Revolution 2.0. From this perspective, when we analyze ChatGPT and Artificial Intelligence, we have to highlight the following:
- New media always introduce new ways of processing data – this is nothing new;
- A Media Revolution is becoming more widespread and inventing new features in its four layers: channel, language, data processing and storage;
- Artificial Intelligence is an advancement in data processing.
The emergence of new media and its different layers are part of Sapiens' demand to create new technologies to help us deal with population growth. As well, more people on the planet force us to be constantly inventing technologies to better deal with Progressive Complexity. Therefore, we have to divide the changes in the Media Layer of Data Processing into two:
- Data Processing 1.0 – with less machine autonomy to manage data;
- Data Processing 2.0 – with more machine autonomy to manage data.
AI is part of Data Processing 2.0 from the Digital Media Revolution.
ChatGPT allows the massification of Data Processing 2.0, which was still in limited use. The more data we need to process because we have more people on the planet, the more and more we will create new technologies to be able to process it. AI is a civilizational upgrade so that we can, more easily and cheaply, carry out activities that were previously impossible by Sapiens. The role of any technology is to allow Sapiens to perform more complex tasks, leaving the simpler ones to machines. Thus, we have a Bimodal Rule: Technologies do not replace Sapiens, as Sapiens manages to reinvent itself, becoming increasingly complex and sophisticated. We are the only species that increases Demographic Complexity and this forces us to be increasingly creative.
Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPTs
AI and ChatGPT are part of one of the new features of the Digital Revolution, which need to be seen within the general context and not in isolation. AI will not make Sapiens dumber, on the contrary, it will allow us to be even smarter. Thus, every new technology that arrives forces us to be a new Sapiens.
We have to understand that: The current Media Revolution has a great mission for our Survival: Manage the new Demographic Level in a more intelligent way. AI – including ChatGPTs, which will be increasingly used, frees us from simpler tasks so we can be even more creative. In this way, today, with the new digital possibilities, we have an increase in rates of:
- Originality;
- Creativity;
- Cooperation.
Ultimately, this brings us to Civilization 2.0, which allows us to reglobalize the planet. Or if you want, retribalize. In other words, the tendency for people to connect will increasingly be through their more subjective profiles, allowing for a radical increase in originality. Thus, the great role of the Media Revolution – which includes AI, is to enable Large-Scale Originality.
